COVID-19: Monitoring COVID-19

Coronavirus Update

President's Message to the Community

March 11, 2020

To the York College Community:

Earlier today, the Governor announced that, following a five-day period of pedagogical retooling, CUNY will be transitioning to a distance-learning model for the remainder of the Spring semester.

From Thursday, March 12, through Wednesday, March 18, classes will be suspended so that all of CUNY’s faculty and staff can prepare to instruct through a variety of different modalities, such that we will continue to educate our students while responding to the unique needs presented by the current environment created by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Beginning Thursday, March 19, classes will resume for the remainder of the semester using the distance-learning model.Throughout the suspension and period of distance learning, York College will remain open, and our staff will remain on site, to continue to provide our students access to our computer labs, library, advisement, accessibility, counseling, food pantry and other support services.  Although faculty will be transitioning to new methods of instruction, faculty will continue to have full access to the College, its resources and their offices.

We are grateful to every student for their patience and cooperation as we transition to a new model of education, and we are equally grateful to every member of York’s faculty and staff for their dedication to the College’s mission of educating its students, and each person’s individual role in ensuring that we continue to serve this mission while responding to a unique and difficult challenge posed by the current outbreak.  York College remains committed to rising to these challenges and continuing to provide its students with the best education possible.
