AMA Citation style: General AMA Citation Format

How to use the AMA Citation Style

What rules does the AMA Citation Guide set out for formatting your paper?

The AMA Citation Guide does not set out rules for formatting your paper.  It looks at each papers formatting based upon whatever Journal you are writing for and lets you use those rules.  Therefore, listen closely to how your Professor says you should format your paper and follow their instructions. Below are some general guidelines that are used in most AMA papers:

Margins: At least 1.25 inches on each side.

Text formatting: All text, including footnotes, within the document should be in a 12-point Arial font and double spaced.

Pagination: All pages should be numbered consecutively (1,2, 3, etc.) including the title page.

First Page of Text: Should start on a new page after the title page headed by the paper title, it should be paginated.  The Title page should also be paginated.
